Sunday – 9:30 a.m. Service of Holy Communion

Wednesday – 10 a.m. Eucharist followed by Prayer Ministry

 

THIS IS THE 3^RD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH AND THAT MEANS ITS FAMILY CHURCH THIS SUNDAY!! HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THIS SUNDAY!!

 

Tomorrow the youth choir and youth handbell choir from Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Silver Spring MD will be performing here at 4:30-5 and then, they will also be participating in our 5 p.m. service.  Please come and support these kids as they perform! 

 

Then, Sunday afternoon at 3:30 the Northern Cluster Choir will be performing their Easter Cantata here.  It promises to be a most moving experience. Come and see!!

 

Come join the study the next 2 Wednesdays OR next Saturday. This is the continuation of the journey that many of us began last summer and submitted our thoughts on. All are invited to join this portion of the study!!

 

ELCA Releases Draft Social Statement on Women and Justice

The draft statement on women and justice has been released for study and response prior to September 30, 2018.

 

You can find the statement on the ELCA web site at http://www.elca.org/Faith/Faith-and-Society/Current-Social-Writing-Projects/Women-and-Justice/Draft

At this site you can download and read the draft document. You can also submit your own feedback directly to the task group.

 

However, if you would prefer to study and discuss the document together in a group setting, to share your ideas and responses with your fellow congregation members, and to hear the voices of those who might have understandings and responses that differ from your own, Pastor Matt will be facilitating two opportunities to do so

Wednesday Evening Track – meeting from 7-8:30 on 2 Wednesday evenings, April 18 and 25

Saturday Afternoon Track – Meeting from 1:30-4:00 on Saturday afternoon, April 21

If you have someone on the prayer list and you would like them to remain on the prayer list for the new church year, please call (732-229-9180), email (reformationwlb@gmail.com) or leave a note on Debbie’s desk. Please remember, unless otherwise asked, we will put your loved ones name on the weekly spoken prayer list for 4 weeks and then they will remain on the prayer list below and in the monthly messengers indefinitely (until you let us know we can remove them).

The Harmony Coffeehouse:  Sunday, April 15^th at 2 p.m. – cost $5 at the door. Michael & Elliott Topper from Temple Beth Miriam (mom, Gayle helps a lot with our pantry!) are organizing a coffeehouse fundraiser to benefit the Asbury Park Music Foundation. Come listen to some awesome music and support an awesome cause!!

When:    Saturday, April 14^th at 4:30 p.m.

They will also join us for worship at the 5 o’clock service that evening where they will provide the prelude, offertory music, anthem, and postlude music.

 

 A Musical Celebration of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection, Sunday, 15 April, 3:30 PM.

The Northern Cluster Choir will present its 2018 Cantata, at Reformation Lutheran Church. Once Upon a Tree, was created by Pepper Choplin, one of the most creative composers of church music today. Experience St. Luke’s retelling of the story through compelling music and narration. Light refreshments will be served in the gathering area.

 

 Anna Beaty Scholarship:  Calling all high school seniors and undergraduate college students!  Have you been involved in the life of our congregation especially Sunday Church School?  If yes, please be sure to fill out an application for our Anna Beaty Scholarship.  Applications are on the round wooden table and are due to the office by April 15^th! THAT’S THIS WEEKEND!!

 

Wurffel Fund College Loan/Scholarship:  Through the generosity of the Wurffel family a Memorial Fund has been set up through the NJ Synod to provide a limited amount of financial aid to students attending an accredited 2 or 4 year college for their undergraduate degree.  Priority is given on the basis of financial need and activity in the life of the church.  Applications are available in the church office.  Please see Pastor Matt or Debbie for more information.
