Exploring Why Leading Worship Matters

Saturday, March 30, 2019

Registration begins at 9:00 AM – Program 9:30 – 2:00

St. Mark Lutheran Church, 350 White Horse Ave., Hamilton, NJ

Lead by Deacon Linda Walker and Rev. Matthew Cimorelli

$25 registration will include lunch and take away resources

The NJ diakonia Steering Committee is pleased to host a workshop for Worship and Music committee members and lay leaders who are being asked to lead worship services in light of the shortage of ordained clergy.  Diakonia students and graduates will find this workshop a delightful refresher of their Worship course.

This workshop will explore not only the biblical foundations of our Lutheran worship service, but also how lay leaders can serve in worship leadership.  A mixture of instruction and small group work will give participants hands-on experience in planning a Service of the Word from ELW.

EASTER LILIES AND TULIPS: We’ll be looking to place orders for our lilies and tulips within the next month. The good news is the prices are staying the same and the cost for both lilies and tulips will be $15 each. At the end of the newsletter are the order forms. Please submit your order requests as soon as possible, but no later than March 31st.

Emergency Contact Forms:  Have you ever thought about how we, at church, would contact your family if something happened to you while here?  We have!  Just think about it, you trip and fall, pass out, get dizzy, or a multitude of things could happen.  It would make caring for you so much faster and easier if we had emergency contact information that includes your medications.  We’ve asked before and we’re asking again, please complete the bright pink forms with the ushers and give them to Debbie or leave them on her desk.  If you’ve already done one, we have it. If you want to check it for updates, see Debbie. Age doesn’t matter accidents and illness can happen at any age!!

Prom Dresses/Tuxedos:  Do you or someone you know have gently used prom dresses and/or tuxedos?  If yes, please consider donating them to The Princess Prom Project at Senator Gopal’s office in Ocean Twp.

Do you know someone who needs a dress or tuxedo?  Please refer them to the Princess Prom Project.  Full details are on the kiosk in the gathering area.

Name Tags:  Where oh where have you gone?  Name tags are so important! They help us recognize and learn each other’s names. I bet there are at least a half dozen or more people sitting in church today and you don’t know their names! I challenge you all (me included) to ask the ushers for your name tag for the next month and see if you can meet someone you didn’t know!  Thanks Deb K

Maundy Thursday: Our next dinner church will be on Maundy Thursday.  Dinner church is a 3 course pot luck dinner done around the worship service. The signup sheet is on the kiosk
