Holy Scripture is clear that faith apart from good works is useless (James 2:20) and that the Lord requires of those called by God’s name to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8). Furthermore, when asked which commandment of the law was the greatest, Jesus identified the first commandment as loving God with all of one’s heart, soul, mind and strength, and the second as love of one’s neighbor (Matthew 22:34-40).

On the ELCA web site, under “Our Faith in Action” you’ll find the following:

Lutherans aren’t folks who simply talk about their beliefs. We put them into action.  So make a meal to share. Have your opinion on government policy heard. Help a friend through their time of need… Find out just how rewarding God’s work can be.

Through this congregation’s ministries, and through the work of the larger Church, supported by our regular generous sharing of resources with the ELCA, lives are changed locally and around the globe.
