HOPED FOR FOOD PANTRY AND CLOTHES CLOSET EXPANSION:

At this week’s council meeting the bid recommendation was presented to the council.

The following is the motion for the congregation to consider and vote on at our special congregational meeting following worship on Sunday, June 24th

CONGREGATIONAL MOTION: I move that Council be authorized to accept the bid of $148,315 from Celtic Concepts (Galway Builders) for the food pantry expansion as described in the design documents provided by KMB Design Group. Funding for this expansion will consist of $130,000 currently available in the Food Pantry memorial with the remainder (including costs associated with any change orders) to be provided by a donor.

EXPLANATION: Four bids were received and evaluated. This bid was judged to be the best response for the following reasons:

  •       Very reasonable price
  • Clear indication of scope of work to be performed
  • Proposal contains a guarantee of workmanship
  • Contractor is known for quality work

A donor has generously offered to provide funding for costs that exceed $130,000, leaving us a buffer in the food pantry memorial to cover at least a year of operating costs, which Council deems sufficient. This is without any further donations towards the expansion which, while not being actively solicited, will be gladly accepted. As these funds are already dedicated for the food pantry, no funds from the congregation’s operating fund will be used for this.

Please remember, unless otherwise asked, we will put your loved ones name on the weekly spoken prayer list for 4 weeks and then they will remain on the prayer list below and in the monthly messengers indefinitely (until you let us know we can remove them).

NURSERY COVERAGE:              Our SCS classes have ended for the summer and that means our nursery coverage also ends.  Some of our parents, realizing the need doesn’t necessarily end for our nursery, have hired Nichole Rashid’s babysitter to come and watch the children beginning 6/24. Donations to the babysitter would be greatly appreciated.
