 CHURCH HAPPENINGS

Reformation Exercise Class is back!!! As long as the weather holds, we will be meeting at Patty Mikolon’s house on Franklin Parkway (right off Locust Ave) to walk around Franklin Lake. It’s a beautiful time of the year to walk!! We’ll meet on Monday’s at 7!! As the weather gets too cold to walk, we will resume our informal classes in the great room using various tapes (light yoga, dancing to the oldies, etc.) For more information or to get on the text list, please contact Edie Jansen at erj1980@optonline.net

WELCA: The Women of the ELCA from Reformation and Holy Trinity Red Bank are joining together at Holy Trinity Red Bank for a presentation by Naomi Pilande, a Registered Dietician on Women’s Nutrition with a Q & A period too on Wednesday, October 28th at 7 p.m. See the sign-up sheet on the kiosk for full details. All women are invited and encouraged to attend this free event!

Mary Martha Circle: It’s time for the Mary Martha Circle’s annual Oktoberfest – a German Pot Luck in the great room on October 19th at 6:30 p.m. Sign-up sheet is on the kiosk!! All women of the congregation are invited.

RED BANK CROP WALK

SUNDAY – October 18, 2015

STEP UP & WALK WITH US!

Reformation will be represented at the CROP HUNGER WALK in a few weeks. This is the 35th Annual Red Bank CROP Walk, and their goals this year are to raise $135,000 and collect 18,000 pounds of food. Working together we can help end hunger & poverty!

We currently have 4 families signed up to walk & would love to have more. If you’d like to join our team, please let Sue Homza know so she can get you signed up & give you all the paperwork you’ll need. Most importantly you can start getting sponsors & collect donations for your walk.

The route is a 5 mile walk starting & finishing at Red Bank Regional High School, but there is a shorter route if you don’t think you can do the whole thing. Registration is 1:00, we start walking at 2:00.

On the day of the walk, please bring your cash donations, and a food donation of peanut butter, rice, and beans. This will help the Red Bank CROP walk reach their goals.

If you’d like to help but don’t think you can walk, consider sponsoring our walkers. Not sure who to sponsor? Let Sue know & she will distribute all sponsorships among our walkers. EVERY sponsorship of ANY amount will help! Call Sue at 732-933-1522 or email her at susanhomza1@verizon.net

The Community Clothes Closet needs your help: Besides the Clothing “Donation Bags” you may receive in the mail, if you have any oversized store bags that you aren’t using, it would be appreciated if you would bring them in for the Community Clothes Closet.

These bags have come in handy in bagging oversized items (i.e. blankets, pillows, towels, etc).

Please drop off your donations in the marked plastic bottle that can be located in the Gathering Area on the round wooden table or leave them next to the table. Thank you

EVANGELISM: Our Evangelism team is already preparing for their annual Halloween candy distribution on Halloween from 5-8 p.m. But, they need our help:

  1. They are looking for volunteers to distribute candy that evening
  2. They need donations of individually wrapped bags of candy

Please see Ralph Catron for more details. There is also an article in this month’s monthly messenger which is now available on the church website.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: After our summer hiatus, the Prayer Shawl Ministry team would like to get knitting and crocheting again! We plan to meet on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. with our first meeting set for October 12th. We find we are running low on shawls and are actively looking for volunteers to either join here at the church or if you can’t make it, please consider making a shawl at home. There is plenty of yarn in the closet so please stop on by to pick some out!! The prayer shawls mean so much to the recipients!!

Looking Ahead: Plan now to join us on Saturday, November 7th, to help clean, paint, and generally spruce up the church and property!! There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk

COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS

NJ SYNOD HAND IN HAND DAYS: Volunteers are the hands, heart, and soul of the ongoing Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts still happening throughout the state of New Jersey. You are invited to come and team up with others from across the state to volunteer your time and effors to help those who hurt, who are in need, and who have limited choices due to Superstorm Sandy. The last Hand in Hand date is: October 24th from 9-3. Won’t you check your calendars now and see if you and your family are available to help one? Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA): The CMA with Don Sunshine Ministries will be presenting a free seminar here at Reformation on Saturday, October 10th from 9-2:30 including lunch.
