ALL SAINTS DAY REMEMBRANCE OPPORTUNITY

On Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th, 2017 we will celebrate All Saints Day. At our worship services on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 9:30 a.m., we will offer prayers remembering all those who have entered their new and eternal life in Christ.

Many people wish to make a memorial donation on this occasion and we continue to provide an opportunity to make such gifts on All Saints Sunday.

Monies received will benefit our Endowment Fund.  There are now three areas within the Endowment Fund in which you may designate your donations.  The original section is general Endowment, which will continue to make grants and matching gifts.  The second section is for the Building and will be used exclusively for the repair of or expansion of our church building.  The third was established to continue the ministry of feeding the hungry. You may choose where you would like your gift applied.

On All Saints Sunday there will be a Memorial Bouquet on the altar.  A list of all those being remembered and the donors who wish to remember them will be included in the bulletin that weekend and published in the December “Lutheran Messenger.”

All remembrances need to be submitted by:  Tuesday, October 31st

If you have a family member you would like included in the spoken prayers on All Saints Weekend, please be sure to get it in to the office as soon as possible.  We try to keep track of everyone’s loved ones who have died in the past year, but to be honest, we don’t always succeed. Please help us to be sure we remember everyone and please don’t assume we will remember.  Thank you, Debbie

We want you for our Pictorial Directory!

Just twelve more working days to reserve your photo session!

Photographer will be here on Wednesday, Nov 1st and Thursday, Nov 2nd from 2:00 pm till 8:30 pm.  Please check your calendar and appointments to see if you can squeeze a 10 minute photo session in.  As soon as you know what will work best with your schedule, please contact me so that I can log you into to the Universal Church Directory’s website.

Don’t wait to the last minute to schedule.  Certain time slots are booking up fast and I don’t want you to be disappointed.

If you are unable to attend either of the photo sessions, uncopyrighted photos can be submitted with a $10.00 check payable to Universal Church Directory.

Thank you

Service Project with Precious Blood Catholic Church

September 24, 2017

The Center – Asbury Park

Sunday, September 24th  was a beautiful summery-fall day.  It was warm & sunny, not much humidity…a perfect day in my book.  So many things could be done with this God-given perfect day.

Another perspective on this day…numerous people waking up in Asbury Park thinking it is a beautiful day, but more importantly, they think about getting to the Center at 4:00 for a meal.  Not only will they not go hungry today, but they will be nourished with good food & fellowship with people they don’t even know.

Joan, Bernie, Don & Richard, our friends from Precious Blood were cooking, laughing and sharing stories in the kitchen with us.  Alicia Williamson & Lexie; Summer Lampinen, Charlie Brady, Barbara Denegar, Pastor Matt & Karen, and me (Sue Homza) cooked together.  Cooking a meal for 40 people has never been so much fun and satisfying for me.

Many people thanked us that day,  but one in particular stands out.  He was a soft spoken man, probably in his 70s.  Before he left, he approached me to say, ‘thank you, and please let EVERYONE who worked in the kitchen today know that everything was delicious and I appreciate the time they spent here today when they could’ve been somewhere else.  God Bless you all.’

I am so glad that cooking at the Center is what we chose to do with our God-given day!  I hope more of you get the opportunity to cook at the Center next time, or join in one of the many outreach programs we participate in at Reformation.  We make a difference in many people’s lives.
